Third Wax Brand Review - Balneaves

Image
Overview The third brand to be reviewed is Balneaves.  I honestly can't remember how i found this brand but i would suspect i spotted it on social media of some kind.  This was probably the first brand, other than the usual well known brands, that i tried.  This is a small family run business, based in the Scottish Borders.  Again, this brand focuses on being eco friendly.  They use only soy wax which is considered a much more eco friendly choice than paraffin wax (which is a byproduct of crude oil).  Soy wax is made purely from soy beans.  This brand is also vegan friendly and cruelty free.  I'm an animal lover, so cruelty free is a must for any of my purchases. There are a few options when buying this wax, although bare in mind that not all scents are available in all sizes.  So if there is a scent you really like just type it in the search bar.  You can buy 50g snap bars, 25g pots, 276g XXL melts or 85g wax melt jars (these loo...

Second Wax Brand Review - Callan Candles

Image
Overview The second brand to be reviewed is Callan Candles.    I discovered this brand on Facebook – you will see this is becoming a frequent occurrence.  I suspect due to the fact i spend a lot of time on Facebook (usually without even knowing im doing it) and a lot of time buying 'smelly things'.  This brand again has a focus on being sustainable where possible.  They only use soy wax, are plastic free and use recycled packaging wherever they can.   There are a few options when buying this wax, either 60g gemstone packs, 110g pods and 220g pods.  I usually buy the 110g pods if its a fragrance i know i like, but if i want to try a new fragrance Callan Candles offer a 10g gemstone pack.  The packaging for the gemstones is a paper wrapper made from recycled materials.  Until i looked in to the company in a bit more depth i always thought the pods were plastic but it turns out they are made from vegetables which i think as great (an...

First Wax Brand Review- Devon Wick

Image
Overview The first brand to be reviewed is my current favourite, Devon Wick.   I discovered this brand on Facebook – probably a tailored add due to the previously mentioned ‘smelly thing’ addiction.   They are an eco-friendly brand, using soy based wax to create their melts.   I have tried a huge number of fragrances from this range so I’ll review three fragrances from my latest delivery.   All wax bars come in a paper wrapper, I’m not sure if this is recycled material or not.   The bars themselves are all white in colour, with varying colours of glitter through the wax.   I use two squares each time I use the wax. Reviews Between the Sheets I love this scent, a new favourite!   It has what I would describe as a fresh linen smell with notes of lilly and jasmine, reminds me of getting into a freshly changed bed.   This is a particularly strong and long-lasting scent. 4/5. Snow Pixie I should probably mention at this point I also have a small...

Wax Melt Review Blog - Intro

Image
Introduction Did you make it through the various Covid-19 lockdown without any permanent damage?    The only minor issue I developed was an addiction to buying ‘smelly things’, in particular wax melts.    With a huge amount of time on my hands, given the fact we were all pretty much housebound for the best part of a year, I had to find something to fill the void of my usual hobbies.    What I discovered was that I am not the only person that has an unhealthy interest in all things smelly.    Whether it be global brands or people making wax melts in their kitchen new products seem to be popping up everywhere.    Did you know that the wax melt market which was already growing at a value of   2.72 billion in 2021, is expected to reach the value of USD 4.05 billion by 2029? If you are reading this, I will assume that you also have an interest in wax melts whether it be in a personal of professional capacity.    Perhaps some of...
